the DNC made a mistake

Clearly, people wanted a revolution.  Now they got one.  As improbable as they seemed, the comparable rises of the Donald and Bernie Sanders showed that people wanted it.  Though the Republican party certainly did not embrace theirs, there is also no evidence that they obstructed it an any undemocratic way.  The Democratic party, on the other hand, undermined Bernie’s candidacy and now they are paying for it.

Thinking only in terms of hard-lined partisanship, it seems as though Democratic leadership underestimated the general public’s desire to shake things up.  Swing states that easily could have gone Democratic instead went with the only option with a chance to make things drastically different.  With only one option for a political revolution, they made the easy choice.

The DNC made a mistake in obstructing Bernie.  Had he been their candidate, their offering would have been more easily comparable to the other sides’ and based on his and Donald’s popularity metrics, he likely would have done quite well.  The many millions of people seeking a revolution would have had a menu of two.  Instead, they took what they could get.
